How to find out a VHL application version

VHL-Site

In general this information is available at the footer of application’s home page.

E.g.:

BVS Site 5.3.1 © BIREME/OPS/OMS
BVS Site 4.1.3 © BIREME/OPS/OMS
BVS Site 4.0.1 © BIREME/OPS/OMS

Some VHL sites may be also based on the original HTML model, therefore not having any hierarchic nor structural data.

LILDBI-Web

LILDBI-Web’s version is available in the login page, below the window title and in the same line of the database name in use.

E.g.:

Version 1.7b
Versão 1.6

IAH

The version information is available at the footer of application’s home page.

E.g.:

Search engine: iAH v2.6.3 powered by WWWISIS
Search engine: iAH v2.6 powered by WWWISIS

LIS

In order to confirm the version of LIS installed one must access the homepage of application’s interface and select the option ‘View source code’ in the web browser being used.

The version information is identified among the META tags at the top of the HTML code. These tags are intended to provide information on the page (or site) to search interfaces and web robots. The tag identified as ‘BIR1’ provides the LIS version in use.

E.g.:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta name="BIR1" content="BVS-LIS 2.6">
<meta name="BIR2" content="BIREME/AFI/FIR">
<meta name="copyright" content="BIREME/PAHO/WHO">
<meta name="date" content="20040623">

It is also possible to find the same information by accessing the LIS base URL, adding the following parameters at the end:

/lis-Regional/include/version.xsl

E.g.:

http://my-lis/lis-Regional/include/version.xsl

NOTE: In case the user cannot determine the version, it must be considered as LIS 2.4 or before.

DirEve

There are two ways to find out an Events Directory version:

  • at the footer of the home page:

e.g.:

DirEve 1.3b BIREME/OPS/OMS
  • through the source code of the home page within META tags (like LIS).

e.g.:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta name="BIR1" content="DirEve 1.4a">
<meta name="BIR2" content="BIREME/AFI/FIR">
<meta name="copyright" content="BIREME/PAHO/WHO">
<meta name="date" content="20050117">

NOTE: In case the user cannot determine the version, please address a mail to the RedDes technical list (reddes.bvs-tech@listas.bireme.br) informing the Events Directory URL subject to analysis.

CISIS

In order to verify CISIS Utilities’ version it is required to execute the MX utility according to the lines below.

E.g.:

  • when in a MS-DOS prompt window, in the command line:
mx what
  • when using a Linux console, in the command line:
./mx what

The result seems like:

CISIS Interface v5.2b/PC32/M/32767/10/30/I - Utility MX
CISIS Interface v5.2b/.iy0/Z/4GB/GIZ/DEC/ISI/UTL/INVX/B7/FAT/CIP/CGI/MX
Copyright (c)BIREME/PAHO 2006. [1]

NOTE: Other CISIS utilities also display the version data, but provided that MX is the main utility of the set, it is more suitable to consider using it to retrieve version information.

WWWISIS

In order to find out the WWWISIS version one needs to execute passing the ‘hello’ parameter, either through an internet browser’s URL or through the command line in a Linux console and/or MS-DOS prompt window.

E.g.:

  • via internet browser
http://meu-site/cgi-bin/wxis.exe?hello
  • through command line
    • in a MS-DOS prompt window:
wxis.exe hello
    • in a Linux console:
./wxis.exe hello

The result should be something like:

CISIS Interface v5.2b/GC/M/32767/10/30/I - XML IsisScript WWWISIS 7.1
CISIS Interface v5.2b/.iy0/Z/4GB/GIZ/DEC/ISI/UTL/INVX/B7/FAT/CIP/CGI/MX
